Maybe it's because most books show a single author on the cover and
title page. Or maybe it's because when famous authors are interviewed, they are generally
the only one being interviewed. Or maybe it's just the mental picture of a
writer sweating bullets over the keyboard, alone.
However it comes, most people who have a dream they want put in book
form have somehow developed the idea that they must be able to do it
alone, and all by themselves.
What's really true is that almost every author with a successful book
have had lots of help writing it. Often you'll find clues to this
help in the acknowledgement page. What is rarely spelled out is the type
of help the people named actually gave them.
Sure there are family and friends listed in the acknowledgements, and
sometimes and editor or agent. But there are often one or two other people
named without any clue about their role. These are likely to be either a
ghostwriter or a writing coach, and sometimes both.
In other words, successful authors don't write their books alone.
If you've been thinking about writing a book for ages, but haven't
even started...
If you've started a book but have gotten bogged down...
If you know you don't want to write a book, but you still want to
get a
book written...
If any of these apply to you, that's a strong indication that you
could use some help.
Your dream and your book are precious. I certainly don't expect you to
trust them to me right away. That's why I offer as much free as I possibly
can, in small, usable chunks. I'm like you; I know I need help, but I want
exactly the right kind of help.
